Determine the height of the mantle on the brick fireplace.
Measure from the surface of the hearth and make a small mark on the brick at the height you want the shelf.
For stone or brick walls insert the lag bolts sleeves into the pilot holes then drive the lag bolts into the sleeves with a lag screwdriver.
First you will want to pre drill where the lag bolts will go in.
