Hey i own a townhouse in dallas which means crazy hot summers. Your talking about moving the condenser unit from the roof to the ground. In fact it costs roughly the same as having a split system installed. Moving the air conditioner is one of those modifications that can t easily be undone.

It s an old home and it used spacepak high velocity cooling inside of home. Moving a unit isn t as easy or inexpensive as you may believe. Air conditioning or a c vents are used to circulate air from the central a c blower to rooms throughout your house. One man stays in the truck loading shingles onto the belt while another is stationed on the roof offloading the supplies as they are carried up by the moving belt.

I need to upgrade these units so i am also looking into moving them to the rooftop and reclaiming the patio space plus lack of noise. Although most of the work can be done on your own when moving your ac unit you will have to call a licensed hvac technician to discharge and recharge your system before and after it has been moved. Essentially this system is one where a conveyer belt on a rigid platform extends directly from a truck up to the roof.
